Hi, in the latest issue of horsewyse magazine, there was an add for something called a longden grip. its a handle that connects to your saddle if you have a naughty horse, or are a young rider. i think it would be good for riding my youngest horse as shes a little unpredictable :)
HAVE you heard of this or can reccomend something like it?
if so where cani buy it?
first answer:
nope i need something steady, not like a strap. this is like a handle.
I dont care what everyones saying how you become dependant on it. i wont, im also using it to teach a 3 year old to ride

No, no, no , no no!!! Don’t use it!!! So many of the people I’ve seen ride with one became so dependent on it and when ever their horse spooked or twitched they would grab the strap, even if it was easily something anyone could ride through. They create bad habbits.

Riding Equipment???????

August 24, 2010

Okay I know I need a saddle and bridle, reins, blanket, but do i need anything else? Also is it bad to ride your horse when they have no shoes on? Thanks!

Tack your going to need

-Halter
-Lead
-Lunge
-Headstalls/reins (bridle)
-Breast color (if your riding western)
-Bit (I use snaffle)
-Saddle pad
-Blanket (if needed for winter)
-Grooming supplies
-Cinch/Girth (same thing) (front & back if western)
-Saddle (english, or western)
-Hoof pick
-Curry Comb (rubber for summer, metal to help get winter coat out)
-Body brushes
-Sweat scrapper (for bathing, or after a long ride)
-Dandy Brush

I ride my horse barefoot (no shoes) you only really need shoes if your going to be riding on pavement, gravel and such, but if your riding just dirt trails and fields or arena’s then you should be fine, unless you horse has a tender foot and if he doesn’t have shoes could cause him a bit of pain.

Hope that helps.
